Greg's Notes

The World Changer at the End of the World, Part 2

I want to focus on a man who lived in the last days—his last days. They’re different than ours. We’re waiting for the judgment that will come upon the planet by fire. He was waiting for the judgment that would come upon the planet by water. His name was Noah. Jesus actually mentioned him as a picture of what things will be like before Christ returns. Before that great flood, everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time, right until the day that Noah boarded the ark and the flood swept everything away. Jesus says the Son of Man’s arrival will be like that.

Practical Principles

  1. Noah was a witness for God. 2 Peter 2:5 says he was a preacher of righteousness. He didn’t have any converts, but he faithfully warned others and was a representative of God on earth.
  2. Noah put feet to his faith and did what God told him to do. People must have thought he was crazy to build an ark to hold so many animals, but He was obedient to the Lord, and God blessed His obedience.
  3. Noah worshipped and thanked the Lord. The first thing he did after exiting the ark, because he had his priorities in order, was to build an altar to the Lord and give thanks. He put first things first.

Relevant Reminders

  • Our job is to get the gospel out there and it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to bring about a conviction in the heart of a nonbeliever .
  • Put God first by tithing, going to church, thanking the Lord for His provision, etc.
  • All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and the Lord doesn’t cover up the flaws of the great men and women that He used.
  • Noah’s life stands as a warning to every person who follows Jesus that you can fall.

Applicable Actions

Number one: We should remember that God never forgets about us. After Noah had been bobbing around in that ark, we read, “Then the Lord remembered Noah,” and no matter what you’re going through right now, God has not forgotten about you. In light of that, make sure you don’t forget about Him.

Number two: We should never lower our guard or rest on our laurels spiritually. You can’t live in the past. You have to always be growing and maturing and getting closer to Jesus.

Number three: If someone falls into sin, always try to restore them, not destroy them.
