“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14 NKJV).
I’m just one person. You’re just one person. And sometimes, in this crazy world, that seems insignificant.
When we talk about politics, wars, crime…how could we do a thing against such massive situations and problems?
Esther was just one person. Just one girl. And yet, she changed the fate of the Jewish people in her generation.
When she was chosen as queen, I highly doubt she had any indication that she would be called to such a heavy task. I doubt she had any inkling that she would face a life-or-death situation that would result in saving the entire local Jewish people.
When King Ahasuerus signed and sealed a decree that would annihilate all the Jews in the Persian Empire, Esther was approached and asked to speak up for her people to save them from such a fate.
This wasn’t a small ask. Esther was facing potential death by approaching the king uninvited. Talk about pressure and feeling insignificant! She could have easily said, “I can’t do it. I’m just one person.”
But she knew she was one person God chose to use.
She prayed and fasted and laid it before the Lord. And He came through.
We might feel like just one person, but when we have the Lord behind us, we can face and do anything.
We might not be approaching a king, but we are each significant. No matter what is going on around us, we know the Lord wants to do something through us. Just as Mordecai said to Esther, “Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
You were not placed on this earth, in this time, on accident. He has a purpose for you, a calling on your life, a way He wants to use you to save and impact others.
You are anything but insignificant. You are one person God is choosing to use.
I’m calling out the Esthers of our generation! Whatever it is He has called us to, it is time for us to stand up, speak out, and face our purpose, knowing that the Lord is going before us and standing behind us.
It’s time for us to pray, to come humbly before God, and surrender our lives to Him. Let us not sit complacently on the side but rather step boldly into all He has ahead of us, whatever that may be.
Just as Mordecai said to Esther, “If you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish” (Esther 4:14 NKJV). Regardless of what we decide, the Lord’s plan will still persevere. But if we sit idly by or cower away, we miss seeing the benefits and the results of what He has planned.
So let us be the Esthers He made us to be and see what He does through our faith!
