Second Trump Assassination Attempt: Inflammatory Rhetoric Must Stop
Once again, Donald Trump has dodged a bullet—literally. I truly believe that God extended His hand of protection over our former president, and I’m so thankful for that.
America Needs to Turn Back to God
The inflammatory political rhetoric needs to be toned down. It is at a level I have not seen in my lifetime. For instance, calling Donald Trump a threat to democracy, comparing him to Hitler, etc. It has to stop.
We need a return to civility in our public discourse. And most importantly, America needs to turn back to God; we need to turn to Jesus Christ. We need to turn to the Bible.
America Needs Spirituality to Have Morality
Our country was built on biblical precepts. The first book in our public school system was the Bible. Our laws were based on biblical principles. But today, we can’t even post the Ten Commandments in a classroom.
As we see anarchy in the streets and violence spreading across our society, people are crying out for a return to family values.
But we need more than family values. We need the morality those values are based on. And then we need the spirituality that morality is based on. We can’t have morality without spirituality, because who determines what is moral and immoral? We must have a set of standards, and we find them in the pages of Scripture.
What to Pray For
Let’s pray for the right person to be in the Oval Office and for God’s protection over everyone serving in elected office, regardless of whether we voted for them or not.
I want to share with you the prayer we prayed in July after news about the first assassination attempt on Donald Trump:
Father, we pray for our divided nation. We pray that peace will come upon our country and that the rhetoric will be turned down. And we pray that we will begin praying like we’ve never prayed before. Lord, we desperately need You in our country. Thank You that this assassination attempt failed. We pray for the future of our nation—that we will turn back to You. We commit all of this to You now. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
