We’ve all been hearing, with broken hearts, of the tragic elementary school shooting that happened in Texas on Tuesday.
The first thing we think of when hearing something so horrible is: why did God let this happen? Instead, we should be asking: what do I do? The answer is to turn to God with your pain.
The God of All Comfort
Here is part #1 of an interview I just did with @shannonbream on @foxnews About this tragic shooting on the elementary school campus in Texas. I pray it brought some help and hope.
I will post part #2 of this interview tomorrow morning. pic.twitter.com/fGpxzPzdS4— Greg Laurie (@greglaurie) May 25, 2022
Our God is a God of all comfort, as the Bible assures us. As I know, hearing tragic news about your child like this makes time stand still and replaces the air in the room with pain; it’s every parent’s worst nightmare.
But God was there for me when I was in need, and He’s here for the families grieving lost loved ones right now.
For the parents of the children who lost their lives from this horrible event, I can tell you that your children are safe with God in Heaven—and if you put your faith in Christ, you will see them again. This may not take away the pain–I know it doesn’t–but it’s important to remember and hold onto your faith.
This is the hope that a Christian has. We know that life goes past death; in the afterlife, we’ll experience the presence of the Lord, as well as reunite with loved ones who died in faith.
Depth of Your Sorrow, Depth of Your Love

The depth of your sorrow is an indication of the depth of your love. Sometimes people try to heal by keeping their emotions bottled up, trying to ignore them. Let it out, cry out to God.
Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) reads, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me…” reminding us to go to Him for comfort and healing.
Christianity is not a “crutch” as some people like to say. It’s a whole hospital for us, because we all need God.
We all should be praying for the families who lost irreplaceable loved ones. We should also be praying for our nation to turn back to God and experience a spiritual awakening.
This isn’t a time to be against one another, it’s a time to come together for those suffering.
Call out to God and hold your loved ones closely.

The Jesus Movement began during a chaotic moment in American history, when thousands of young people searching for truth encountered the life-changing message of the gospel. In Jesus Revolution, Greg Laurie shares the compelling story behind this spiritual awakening—including his own transformation as a teenager coming to faith in Christ.
This book takes readers behind the scenes of a movement that changed lives through the power of God’s Word and the hope of Jesus. It’s a timely reminder that God still works through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
When you give to Harvest Ministries this month, we’ll send you Jesus Revolution as our thank-you. And if your gift is $50 or more, we’ll also send you the Jesus Revolution movie on DVD—an inspiring way to enjoy and share this powerful story of revival.
