Honoring Charlie Kirk: A Life Devoted to God, Family, and Country
I am in a state of shock and deep sorrow at the news of Charlie Kirk’s death. It was just recently that I had the privilege of speaking at one of his events. I was struck by his courage, clarity, and conviction. I admired him greatly—not just for his public influence, but for the integrity and faith he lived out behind the scenes.
Tragically, Charlie did not get to live a long life—he was just 31 years old, but he did live an impactful one. As Corrie ten Boom said, “The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation.”  Charlie certainly made a great donation with his life.
He began TPUSA at just the age of 18 and made a difference on many college campuses. He talked with students, gave speeches, and powerfully communicated through logic, clarity, courage, and peace. He was a patriot and American who loved his country.
But first and foremost, Charlie Kirk was a Christian, devoted husband, and loving father. He was a bold voice for Jesus Christ. His faith is what motivated him in life and why I believe he accomplished so much in a relatively short life.
We often wonder why these things happen. But in times I can’t wrap my head around the “why,” I go to “what” and “who.” What should we be doing? Who should we turn to?
We should be turning to God. And the greatest tribute we can pay to Charlie is calling people to Christ and speaking unashamedly on cultural issues.
It’s also important to remember: Charlie is now in Heaven. The moment he took his last breath here on earth, he took his first breath in the presence of our Lord. He is in total peace, total bliss. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
That is the hope we hold on to as believers—eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
I  think of the words of Jim Elliot who was martyred for his faith, and he wrote in his journal, “I seek not a long life, but a full one, like you, Lord Jesus.”
Charlie lived a full life and he made a big difference with it. His legacy will continue on. We thank God for him and we thank God for the influence he’s had. He will perhaps have even more in the months and years to come.
He was so active, so busy, fulfilling the mission God called him to. We will all miss his bold voice.
Prayer for Charlie Kirk’s Loved Ones
In their most unimaginable time, please join me in praying for Charlie’s wife, Erika, and their two young children who won’t understand why their dad isn’t coming home. May the God of all comfort surround them with peace and strength.
Father, first and foremost, I pray for Charlie’s family. I pray for his wife, Erika, and his two children. You are the God of all comfort. Lord, comfort them as only You can in this time of deep, deep loss and sorrow and mourning. I pray for his organization, Turning Point USA—that You’ll help them Lord as they continue to get the message that Charlie so boldly proclaimed out to our nation and world.
And I pray, Lord, that You will send another Jesus Movement, another spiritual revolution to America. We need it so desperately. Thank You for the life of this young man. And the influence he had. We pray all of this now. In Jesus’ name, amen.Â
