And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10–11
This Christmas, forget the chestnuts and cozy fire, the cocoa and marshmallows for just a moment.
Step instead into the shepherds’ night where Heaven exploded in light and glory, dropping them to their knees in raw, heart-stopping terror.
“Fear not,” the angel said, because fear is the natural response when God’s light rips the night open. Yet in that same breath came the best news ever told: “Behold, there is good tidings of great joy . . . for unto you is born a Savior, Christ the Lord.”
That’s the gospel in a sentence.
If you’re carrying fear this year, this is for you. Fix your eyes on the Child, God with us. His humility, His authority, His cross-bound love, and let fear give way to worship.
From our loud, mismatched, and often late family to yours, we pray your Christmas overflows with the joy, wonder, and unshakable hope that only Jesus gives. And go ahead, add the extra scoop of whipped cream . . . His grace is that generous!
Merry Christmas,
Greg & Cathe
