Jesus Is Lord! (by Cathe Laurie)

by Cathe Laurie on Nov 6, 2024

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority” (Colossians 2:6–10 ESV).

Where Do We Go From Here?

This election was historic, no doubt about it. But now that it’s over, where do we go from here? As believers, our game plan is clear: We pray, we love, and we trust in God.

Here’s the truth we need to cling to—the highest authority is God Himself. Every leader is under His rule. The Bible’s clear in Romans 13: Obey God first and then man. When a man’s words clash with God’s, we follow God—end of story.

No matter who sits in the Oval Office, God is on the throne. And because of that, we can walk forward with confidence, grounded in Him. He’s calling us to take a stand, to pray, and to be unwavering in our faith. So, let’s lean in and do just that.

Pray for our leaders, for each other, and without stopping.

Scripture lays it out: pray for leaders (see 1 Timothy 2:1–4), pray for each other (see Ephesians 6:18), pray non-stop (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17). And why? Because we’re in a battle that’s way bigger than anything we can see—a fight against evil forces, not people (see Ephesians 6:12). Our weapon? Prayer. And the gospel of peace that reconciles people to God.

Our world may be at odds with Him, but we’ve got the message of forgiveness and restoration that can change lives. Let’s pray that our leaders follow God’s guidance and that they’re shielded from the lies around them. The spiritual war we’re in is bigger than any policy or campaign speech. This is good versus evil, truth versus deception.

Your prayers matter—don’t underestimate them.

Love one another, just like Jesus loved us.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (John 13:34 ESV).

Remember, the battle isn’t against each other. We’re fighting against the evil that tries to twist our thoughts and actions. Love one another. Spread Jesus’ Good News to everyone around you. Let’s be lights in the darkness, showing a love that’s bigger than any division.

Above all, love and trust God.

When the dust settles, remember that the president isn’t our Savior—Jesus is. Our hope isn’t in politicians; it’s in Christ, the One who saves us and gives us eternal life.

Let’s pray for a revival in our nation, for hearts to be turned back to God. Remember: God is on the throne. He knew the outcome of this election before it even began. Nothing takes Him by surprise.

So, what’s our move? We pray. We love. We stay focused on the mission God’s given us. This world isn’t our home, so don’t get wrapped up in the chaos. Fix your eyes on Jesus, live out His call, and rise above the noise.

Jesus is Lord! Let those words sink deep, anchoring you in the days ahead. Stand on this truth. Declare it boldly: Jesus is LORD!
