“Theater of the mind” on ANB!
Hey, check out our radio program, A New Beginning, all this week. We did some pretty cool programs for Lost Boy. Dave Spiker, our very talented on-air voice and overall producer of our show (along with Bryan St. Peters and Paul Eaton) has gone the extra mile on this series.
Dave calls it “theater of the mind,” and he has recreated some scenes from the Lost Boy book in audio form that you will simply not want to miss. This series has audio excerpts from the documentary film for Lost Boy, along with other musical elements that I think will really move you. You will feel like you are there.

John, Teri, Chris, Bethany, Sarah, Heather, and Mark got it right!
In my last blog entry, I asked if any of you could identify what the Bible as describes as six specific “sins” that can be committed against the Holy Spirit.
First of all, let me say, good job everyone! John got it right, as did Teri, Chris, Bethany, Sarah, Heather, and Mark. All will get signed copies of Lost Boy. Just send your mailing address. I promise not to post it! 🙂
Sins against the Holy Spirit
Since we are on that topic, I thought I would break it down for you. We will deal with a “sin” against the Holy Spirit each day of this week.
In Acts 5 is the story of Ananias and Sapphira. They committed the sin of “lying” to the Holy Spirit. God took that one pretty seriously, as they both died immediately as a result!
Sometimes people will say, “I wish we could see more miracles like we read about in the book of Acts!” Let’s thank God we don’t see this “sign” happening today. For if God dealt with believers today as He did with Ananias and Sapphira, every church would have to have a full-time undertaker on staff and a morgue in the basement.
The fact that the Holy Spirit could be lied to shows that He is not a “force,” but that He has a distinct personality.
Some have wrongly thought that the Spirit is more of an “It” than a “Him.” That is probably due in part to descriptions of Him in Scripture as being like the wind, a fire, or coming upon Jesus in the form of a dove.
But the Holy Spirit has a will and a purpose. Jesus said, “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” (John 16:8). Not an “It,” or “a force,” but a definite personality!
So, what does it mean to “lie to the Spirit”? I will save that for tomorrow, and as the TV program Batman from my childhood use to say when leaving you with a cliffhanger, “Tune in tomorrow. Same Bat time. Same Bat channel!”
