Saved Soul, Lost Life

by Greg Laurie on Oct 28, 2016
The master said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let's celebrate together!"

As a young man, the great preacher Alan Redpath was a successful CPA. But one day when he was in church, he heard the minister say something that had a profound impact on him: "You can have a saved soul and a lost life."

Redpath already was a believer. But as he looked at his life and how unfruitful it was, how it was not dedicated to God’s glory, how he was just living for himself and looking out for number one, he realized that statement applied to him. He said, "Lord, that is not how I want to live. I want to dedicate everything to you." And then God began to use him in a wonderful way.

It’s possible that some of us could have a saved soul and a lost life. One day some believers will come empty-handed before the One who gave everything for them and say, "Well, I was just really busy, Lord. I had other things to do. Thanks a lot for getting me in this place. This is great. I will see you later."

The glory of Heaven is not the rewards we will receive. It is not the fact that we will sing with the angels or be able to talk to the apostles or even be able to communicate with loved ones who have gone before us. The greatest joy of Heaven is Jesus and that we will be with Him, never to be separated again.

In that day I want to hear Him say, "Well done"—not because I’m trying to earn His approval or because of what I have done. It is because of what He has done.

Do you want to hear Him say, "Well done"? Then take what He has given you and use it for His glory.
