Remember God
I don’t know about you, but if I had been in a wooden boat with a bunch of animals for a year and I finally hit land, the first thing I would do is kiss the ground and then run and jump around. I would want to get some exercise.
But that isn’t what Noah did. According to Genesis 8:20, he remembered the Lord: “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose” (NLT).
That says a lot about Noah. He knew how to put first things first, and we can do the same. For example, before a meal at home or in a restaurant, how about giving thanks to the Lord? It doesn’t have to be a long prayer; just give thanks to the Lord for the food He has provided.
I think it’s a great thing to do this publicly, but not in a showy or ostentatious way. I was in a restaurant the other day when a very large family came in. When the food arrived, they all bowed their heads and simply gave thanks. I loved that. I thought it was a great testimony.
Another way to remember the Lord is with the faithful giving of our finances. Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce” (NLT). Acknowledging that everything you have has been given to you by God and honoring Him with your finances is remembering the Lord.
Instead of updating your social media or whatever else you’re doing, take your Bible out and read it. That is a way to remember the Lord.
We often have a tendency to forget God. Put first things first. Remember God.

The Jesus Movement began during a chaotic moment in American history, when thousands of young people searching for truth encountered the life-changing message of the gospel. In Jesus Revolution, Greg Laurie shares the compelling story behind this spiritual awakening—including his own transformation as a teenager coming to faith in Christ.
This book takes readers behind the scenes of a movement that changed lives through the power of God’s Word and the hope of Jesus. It’s a timely reminder that God still works through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
When you give to Harvest Ministries this month, we’ll send you Jesus Revolution as our thank-you. And if your gift is $50 or more, we’ll also send you the Jesus Revolution movie on DVD—an inspiring way to enjoy and share this powerful story of revival.
