Done!

by Greg Laurie on Feb 6, 2021
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
—Acts 4:11–12

If I were to sum up Christianity with one word, I’d choose the word done. It’s done—paid for at the cross.

But if I were to sum up all the religions of the world in one word, I’d choose the word do, as in, “Do this, and you will one day go to Paradise.” Or, “Do these good works, and you will find inner peace.”

When someone claims that all religions teach the same thing, they’re actually revealing a complete ignorance about what all religions teach. Such a statement has no foundation in fact whatsoever.

However, I can have respectful conversations with those who believe differently than me. I’ll listen to them. And then I’ll ask if they know their sins are forgiven, if they have peace with God, and if they know they’ll go to Heaven when they die because that is the assurance we have as Christians.

Here’s what the Bible says about Jesus Christ: “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NLT).

There’s power in the name of Jesus Christ because it’s the name above all names.

The Bible tells us, “God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9–11 NLT).

There’s also salvation in His name. Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (NLT).

Jesus proved His love for us tangibly. He showed it. And as I’ve often said, it wasn’t nails that held Him to the cross; it was His love for you and me.
