A Few Questions for God?

by Greg Laurie on Apr 13, 2024
I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.’
—Revelation 21:3

It makes me smile when I hear people say that when they get to Heaven, they’ll have a few questions for God.

I think that one second after they get to Heaven, they won’t care about those questions anymore. They will see God for who He is, and everything else will come into its proper focus.

Right now, our understanding is so limited, so finite. Meanwhile, God’s wisdom is infinite.

As the apostle Paul pointed out, “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely” (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT).

Until the day we go to Heaven, we will have to believe in God—and believe that God will give us the answers someday.

The most important thing to me about Heaven is that Jesus will be there. Writing in Revelation, the apostle John said, “I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them’ ” (21:3 NLT).

To me, Heaven is about Jesus. And wherever Jesus is, that is where I want to be.

Heaven will be greater than anything we’ve ever imagined. We could take the most wonderful things we’ve ever experienced in life, multiply it a million times, and we would get only a glimpse of what Heaven will be like. The good news is that it will last forever.

With this in mind, think about what you’re really afraid of. If you’re a Christian, the worst scenario is not dying because you will go immediately into the presence of God when you die.

But if you’re not a Christian, then the worst scenario is dying without Jesus.

The statistics on death are quite impressive. One out of every one person will die. It is not the worst thing to die. Rather, the worst thing is to die without Jesus.

Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28 NLT).

Do you know if you will go to Heaven when you die? If you don’t know Christ, then you ought to be afraid. I hope you know that you are going to Heaven.

It amazes me how people will go to great lengths to make sure they have things like car insurance, health insurance, homeowner’s insurance, and life insurance. But they won’t give a passing thought to their eternal assurance.

The most important thing of all is what will happen to us beyond the grave. But if we wait until then to decide, it will be too late.

On the other hand, if you have put your trust in Christ, then you don’t have to be afraid. Your life is in God’s hands.

The Jesus Movement began during a chaotic moment in American history, when thousands of young people searching for truth encountered the life-changing message of the gospel. In Jesus Revolution, Greg Laurie shares the compelling story behind this spiritual awakening—including his own transformation as a teenager coming to faith in Christ.

This book takes readers behind the scenes of a movement that changed lives through the power of God’s Word and the hope of Jesus. It’s a timely reminder that God still works through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.

When you give to Harvest Ministries this month, we’ll send you Jesus Revolution as our thank-you. And if your gift is $50 or more, we’ll also send you the Jesus Revolution movie on DVD—an inspiring way to enjoy and share this powerful story of revival.
