8,600 make professions of faith at 2-day evangelistic event

Press Release: JDA Worldwide for Pastor Greg Laurie

Nov. 8, 2022

ANAHEIM, Calif. — This weekend, SoCal Harvest returned to Angel Stadium and hosted over 210,000 attendees with more than 8,600 people making professions of faith.

Embracing the theme of the “Jesus Revolution” of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the outreach event drew over 51,000 people to Angel Stadium and 161,000 online, where they enjoyed two nights of performances from Dove Award winners Andy Mineo, Phil Wickham and Crowder, GRAMMY-nominated artists Jeremy Camp and Newsboys, and gospel presentations by Harvest founder and Pastor Greg Laurie.

More than 600 radio outlets and social media pages across the nation partnered with Harvest to broadcast and livestream the event. In addition, 215 Southern California churches participated in this year’s event, providing mobilization and volunteers.

Saturday began with a performance by Andy Mineo followed by the Newsboys and Crowder. Sunday’s event featured performances from the Harvest Worship Band, Jeremy Camp and Phil Wickham. Pastor Greg Laurie and his son Jonathan provided opening remarks, including interviews with actor Jonathan Roumie (The Chosen, Jesus Revolution) and producer Jon Erwin (Erwin Brothers, Kingdom Story), who shared their journeys of faith with the crowds.

Between exclusive clips of the upcoming Kingdom Story and Lionsgate film “Jesus Revolution” depicting the spiritual revival of the 1960s and ‘70s, Greg Laurie presented messages incorporating his story of coming to faith in Jesus.

“We did not make this film to live in the past but to prepare for the future,” said Pastor Greg Laurie. “We’re saying to the Lord, ‘Do it again!’”

Fireworks rang out after Laurie invited attendees to make a public profession of faith, and thousands of people rose from their seats each night, making their way toward the stage as they committed their lives to Jesus.

“My hope tonight is not in politicians or world leaders. It’s not in technology, money or possessions. It’s not even in religion,” said Laurie. “What we are all looking for is not something you hold in your hand. It’s something that happens in your heart in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.”

Since 1990, Harvest Crusades have been held in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. More than 8 million people have attended Laurie’s crusades in person, and millions more have participated online. More than 700,000 people have made professions of faith in Christ through Harvest outreaches.

“God changed the course of my life, and He can do that for you tonight,” said Laurie. “No matter what trajectory your life is on, God can change your story.”
