Neighbors

by Teri Ann Moyer on Aug 17, 2018

Meet Sherry, Jordan, Cara, Thomas and Eric—my neighbors. They all just got back from a four-day long cruise and what’s the first thing they thought of? “Let’s go to the Harvest Crusade.” God works in amazing ways. For me to have run in to my neighbors in a sea of thousands—that’s our God.

I invited Sherry to a screening of Woodlawn at Harvest OC in October of 2015. I had invited her to many a crusade but it was then that the Lord decided to grab Sherry’s heart. She lost her husband in March of 2015 and was living in darkness. After the movie, Pastor Greg Laurie came out and gave an invitation for people to invite Jesus into their hearts. There were just a few who stood up and Sherry was one of them. God is so good!

Sherry and her daughter, Jordan, began coming to Harvest OC the following weekend and have been faithful attenders ever since. Jordan was in fifth grade when she started coming to Harvest OC and was in the “Good News Club” at school where she learned about the Bible. “When Jordan attended Good News Club after school, she knew that this was a positive experience and, although neither of us owned a Bible, she prayed for me to one day be a Christian and accept Christ into my heart,” Sherry shares.

So God had used Sherry’s daughter to prepare her heart for that night when she watched Woodlawn and heard the truth of her need for a Savior. “God spoke to me through Jordan.  She was a Christian for years and I knew I needed to step into faith, be forgiven, and love God with all my heart.  I was overwhelmed with the fact that I am forgiven of my sins and begin to live a life, as God’s will would have it done,” says Sherry.

Sherry and Eric started dating in January of 2016. “I invited Eric to come to Harvest OC with me for Valentine’s Day and that was the day God got a hold of Eric and he prayed to ask Jesus into his heart,” Sherry fondly remembers. That’s the love of the Lord—to restore the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25) and bring what was dead back to life—what was living in darkness into light and love of Jesus.”

Now Eric and his two children also call Harvest OC their church. All five of these beauties look forward to seeing Phil Wickham tonight, who is their favorite musician.
