Matt

by Sandie Cervantes on Aug 18, 2018

Things looked bleak for Matt a few years ago. An addiction to Meth had taken over his life. He was looking at a long-term jail sentence at a maximum-security prison, with no hope of parole or probation. He prayed for a miracle.

Matt was 12 years old when he tried pot for the first time, just for fun, which opened the door to harder drugs. Before he knew it, he had lost his friends, his family, his money, and found himself homeless, all because he chose drugs over everything else in his life. He spent six years going in and out of jail and felt like there was no solution, no hope. It was then that he accepted the Lord. While he always knew God was real, it was a men’s retreat where he met Jesus for the first time. "I gave everything to the Lord, but after the retreat I started drinking again, starting going out and trying to fit in. The conviction and guilt of what I was doing was too hard to face, so I stayed in my addiction."

But God was not done; on September 12, 2016 He gave Matt the miracle he prayed for. The District Attorney on his case mistakenly overlooked some important information that would have put him in jail for eight years. Instead Matt was sentenced to 12 months and was given a fresh start in life. He knows it was God’s hand on his hopeless situation. God gave him his family back, gave him good friends, a healthy support system around him, a good job, and even good credit!

What contributed to Matt’s second chance on life? "I know it was my family praying for me for years, and tonight I’m just here to worship the Lord!"

Yes, the power of prayer is real. Yes, God still does miracles. And yes, God truly gives us all second chances.
