The Gospel for Busy People

by Greg Laurie on Sep 27, 2020

In this webcast, Pastor Greg Laurie shares a message from Mark 1 / Luke 4 titled “The Gospel for Busy People” in our Sunday Morning series at Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Sermon Notes

In the eyes of many, John the Baptist was a radical, a revolutionary. John had a job . . . to prepare the way for the Lord. John was the greatest of all the prophets. Some may ask why is John greater? Because he and he alone was the direct herald and forerunner of Jesus. John was a humble man. John’s mission was to get out of the way and prepare people for Jesus!

Mark stands apart from the other Gospels; it is the most compact of any Book of the Bible. John Mark is the author of the Gospel and the nephew of Barnabas. John Mark was close to Simon Peter. Why 4 Gospels?

  • Because each gospel had a different objective and purpose in its writing.
  • Matthew primarily was for the Jews, opening his Book with a genealogy.
  • Luke focused more on the sympathetic ministry of Jesus.
  • John begins with a statement about eternity.

  • Mark 1:1–8
  • Mark 1:7
  • Luke 4:9–11
  • Psalm 91:11–12
  • Psalm 119:9
  • Psalm 119:11
  • Luke 4:5–7
  • Luke 4:8
