How to Come to Jesus with Jonathan Laurie
This week Pastor Jonathan Laurie takes us through our series 7 Signs of Jesus with a message called “How to Come to Jesus.” Together we will learn from Jesus healing the nobleman’s son, and healing the lame man.
Trial to Triumph
But before Jesus healed the boy, he was dealing with the father.
Agony had driven this nobleman to Jesus.
His son was dying.
what you do need is an understanding that God alone can meet the deepest need in your life.
Yes God can heal you, yes God can restore your marriage, yes God can help you through this trial you might be facing, but until you recognize your GREATEST need, those are all just secondary issues.
How to Come to Jesus?
Come with your crisis.
Come with your need.
Come with your misconception – BUT be prepared to have Jesus reorganize your priorities.
This man was ready to be healed from this sickness and so Jesus gave him a short quick command.
Rise – do the thing you cannot do apart from me and do it immediately.
You once were lame, stand up.
Take up your bed – make no provision for relapse
Your alcohol, your drugs, your sin, remove any trace of it and put into place any necessary accountability you might need. Porn filters? Accountability partner?
An alarm that wakes up the whole house when you open the fridge at 2am? Do what it takes to remove any possibility for backsliding and relapsing into old patterns.
Walk – exorcise your healing and don’t expect to be carried
Some might think that as soon as we ask Christ to come into our lives that we’re going to hit the lottery, no sickness or trial will ever visit doorstep.
So live your salvation.
Walk in it.
Yeah it’s hard, but it’s a muscle and the more you use it, the stronger you become and the happier and healthier you will become.
