A Hopeful Christmas: Cinematic Christmas Event

by Greg Laurie on Dec 20, 2020

In this webcast, Pastor Greg Laurie shares a message from Isaiah 9 titled “A Hopeful Christmas” in our Sunday Morning series at Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Sermon Notes

Did you know that Jesus took His place in a manger so that we might have a home in Heaven? He came to save the world and He came to save you. “Unto us, a child is born, unto us, a Son is given.” The story of Jesus coming is not the story of a birth as it is the story of a gift. God the Father has given everything that He possibly could to reach us. His name is Wonderful: that takes care of the dullness of life. There is nothing this world has to offer that will fill that void in your life.

Wonderful means, “Beyond human ability to understand.” His name is Counselor: that takes care of the decisions of life. The problems and decisions of life do not have to overwhelm or frighten us. Counselor means, “One who advises us, instructs us, and guides us through problems from a position of authority.”

Application

Jesus came for people with problems; He came for people who have made a mess of their lives. Jesus did not become identical to us, but He did become identified with us. Jesus became human without ceasing to be God. His name is Everlasting Father: that takes care of the future of life. His name is Prince of Peace: that takes care of the disturbances of life. Jesus offers you His peace in these uncertain times.
