Join Us for a Virtual National Day of Prayer

by Greg Laurie on May 5, 2020

This Thursday, May 7, at 4:00 PM PT, I’ll be joining my friend Jack Graham, along with many other Christian leaders, for a virtual National Day of Prayer event. This will be streamed on my own Facebook page, and I hope you’ll participate in praying for our country.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV).

Below you’ll find the press release with further details and a full list of speakers.

LOS ANGELES/WASHINGTON – On May 7, 2020, the National Day of Prayer will be celebrated across the nation in a virtual event led by Pastor Greg Laurie and Pastor Jack Graham, featuring special guests such as the Honorable Michael R. Pompeo, Secretary of State, Mr. William Franklin Graham III and Dr. Tony Evans. The event is hosted by Pray.com and will take place on Thursday, May 7 at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m ET.

“For many years, we’ve come together on the National Day of Prayer to lift up our country in prayer,” Dr. Jack Graham said. “Although we can’t gather in our nation’s capital this year due to the pandemic, we have a unique opportunity to come together virtually and exalt the name of God and worship Him in the midst of this crisis. Christian leaders from throughout the country will participate – praying for the advancement of the kingdom and the proclamation of the Gospel as we seek to provide hope to the hurting through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

This year is the 69th consecutive observation of the National Day of Prayer across the nation. Starting with John Hancock in 1775, the National Day of Prayer has been celebrated as a traditional part of the American experience. Our modern observances were established by law by unanimous approval by Congress and signed by President Truman in 1952. That law was modified in 1988 by Congress and signed by President Reagan, designating the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer, just like Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of each year.

“Our nation needs prayer now more than ever, and so it is fitting that we gather on this day to remind us that we should seek the almighty God every day in prayer,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

At a time of national turmoil and distress, leaders associated with President Donald J. Trump’s White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative continue the tradition of celebrating the National Day of Prayer. Pastors such as Greg Laurie, Chris Hodges and Samuel Rodriguez encourage all citizens to join in this observance in the recognition of the importance of prayer in enabling United States citizens to meet the challenges that lie ahead in battling the coronavirus pandemic.

“At Pray.com prayer is our priority and we want to use this national holiday to remind people of the importance of prayer and its power to enable us to meet the challenges that lie ahead with courage, wisdom and justice,” said Steve Gatena, CEO of Pray.com.

Experience the power of prayer through an incredible live stream including Pastors such as Franklin Graham, Jentezen Franklin, Dr. Tony Evans, Robert Morris, Gregg Matte, Chris Hodges, Skip Heitzig, Levi Lusko, Joni Eareckson Tada, Samuel Rodriguez, Eric Metaxas, Johnnie Moore and Matt Potter from Pray.com.

“Today we are going to pray for our nation and the healing of this country,” said Franklin Graham, CEO Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).

The National Day of Prayer live stream is produced by Pray.com. Pray.com was founded in 2016, with a mission to grow faith and cultivate community. Pray.com gives people encouragement and inspiration through daily prayer and faith-based audio content like Bedtime Bible Stories.
