The Truth of Christianity & the ‘Charlie Kirk Effect’—My Conversation with Frank Turek

by Greg Laurie on Nov 11, 2025

Everyone has that moment when they stop and ask the big questions: Why are we here? What’s the point of it all? And what happens after we die? In the most recent episode of The Greg Laurie Show, I sat down with Christian apologist—and faith mentor to Charlie Kirk—Frank Turek, for an honest, timely conversation about the evidence for our faith, Charlie Kirk’s impact on Christianity even in death, how the church’s silence has shaped culture, and so much more.

Is There Evidence for Christianity?

Is Christianity really true? Can we trust the Bible? What about science?

Frank Turek’s ministry, CrossExamined, helps answer our big spiritual questions and cross-examine the ideas that challenge Christianity. As Frank put it: “ Christianity’s not just someone’s philosophy. You can investigate and see whether God exists and Jesus rose from the dead.  And if those two facts are true. . . it’s easy to show the Bible’s the Word of God.”

Frank suggested a big reason young people walk away from the church once they leave home is because they haven’t been given any real evidence; they haven’t been shown that faith in Jesus Christ stands on the strongest evidence. That’s why voices like Charlie Kirk are so powerful and make a big difference for the faith on college campuses.

The “Charlie Kirk Effect”

Charlie wasn’t just a political commentator—he was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. Frank told me Charlie always kept first things first:  ”Charlie knew politics and he knew its place. But his main focus was the gospel.” He recognized that, though politics is important, it is not the most important thing.

Frank said Charlie was an on-ramp to Christianity while he lived—and  I think now, through his death, he’s more of an on-ramp.

I believe we’re living in the middle of a “Charlie Kirk Effect.” In fact, his memorial service may have been one of the greatest days for the gospel in American history—millions of people heard it that day.

And this is  a great moment for the church to rally; if we don’t respond, I think we’re missing a great opportunity. Unfortunately, I think there are too many pastors missing the moment. . . In our full conversation, Frank and I dive even deeper into these topics and we get his answer to common questions, like “why does God allow suffering” and “are all religions the same”listen to the episode with Frank Turek now!
